In the world of high fashion, wool is uniquely prized for its versatility. It’s a fabric for all seasons and all occasions. But without constant research and innovation, wool’s pre-eminence in the fiercely competitive textile market would soon be eclipsed.

The latest development from researchers at CSIRO is SIROSCOUR – a more effective way of washing raw wool. SIROSCOUR not only removes the grease, sweat salts and dirt, it also gets rid of the minute flakes of the sheep’s skin which can hamper the cleaning process.

SIROSCOUR also reduces the cost of effluent disposal, a major problem for the scouring industry.
