Geoff Poulton was best know for his contribution along with Trevor Bird to the AUSSAT B and other antenna research. For developing the Western Australian spot beam antenna system for the AUSSAT-B (now Optus) satellites, they received in 1990 a CSIRO Medal for Research Achievement. He was awarded a second CSIRO Medal for Research Achievement in 1992 along with John O’Sullivan for developing and applying the Fast Fourier Transform technology. See also Wireless LANs.
