Computational Informatics and Digital Productivity

By April 16th, 2016

The Division of Computational Informatics was formed in 2013 by the merger of the Division of Mathematics, Informatics & Statistics and the ICT Centre. The divisional changes associated with the history of these two divisions are summarized in the figure below with further details at the following links:

Mathematics, Informatics and Statistics (2009-13) Information and Communication Technology Centre (ICT Centre) (2003-13)

In July 2014, in a major restructuring of CSIRO, the term Division was replaced by the term Flagship for the organization’s operating units and the title Chief replaced by the title Director. As part of this restructuring the Division of Computational Informatics was renamed the Digital Productivity and Services Flagship and 11 DCI staff transferred to the Mineral Resources Flagship. In September 2014 the Digital Productivity and Services Flagship shortened its name to Digital Productivity. In 2015 the term Flagship was dropped by the Organization.

In August 2015 the CSIRO Digital Productivity business unit merged with the non CSIRO entity NICTA (National ICT Australia Ltd) to create a new CSIRO entity called Data61.
